The Warp Technologies Development Group was a Starfleet branch consisting of engineers who continuously designed new technology that allowed space travel at faster-than-light speeds and reconfigured existing warp drives to operate in their most efficient manner. Among other functions, the Warp Technologies Development Group continuously worked to optimize the warp field environment, to optimize their impact on starship design, to increase velocity and to optimize measurement via warp factors.
