John Piggott (1847 - 26 May 1922) was a businessman and local politician. Born in St Ives, Huntingdonshire he was the son of John Piggott, a grocer and draper and his wife Ann. By 1871 he was working for his father as a commercial traveller. In the same year he married Charlotte Edwards, also of St Ives. By 1881 he was living in Newington and was working on his own account as a tailor and hatter. This business quickly became John Piggott and Company, gentlemens' outfitters, of Cheapside, of which he was chairman for forty years. By 1901 he had moved to Bexley, where he died aged 75.
