The Free Republic of Cuba is a nation in the Caribbean, consisting of the island of Cuba and adjacent small islands. The island has had a turbulent political and cultural history, and has bene under military rule several times. In 2000 the country held democratic elections judged as being fair and equitable by the United American Provinces, of which Cuba has been a member since 1974. It has been suspended from the UAP several times, however.
