In 2374, the Tobias, under the command of Commander Christine MacDonald, was assigned to assist in the development of a cure for a strange and lethal virus that was ravaging plant life throughout the Federation. The Tobias assisted in the efforts of Captain James T. Kirk in fighting the virus and was eventually successful. After the success of this mission, Commander MacDonald was promoted to captain.
