the Japanese snake blenny, (Xiphasia matsubarai), is a species of combtooth blenny found in the western Pacific and Indian oceans just extending into the Atlantic Ocean in False Bay, South Africa. This species can be found at depths ranging from the surface to 4,960 metres (16,270 ft). This species reaches a length of 30 centimetres (12 in) SL. This species feeds primarily off of bony fish. This species can also be found in the aquarium trade.
