The Negs were a region of space west of the galactic coordinates, resulting in a negative first digit. The area was mostly unexplored for tens of millennia as no large hyperspace routes like the Hydian Way were found. One such sector was the Farlax sector. Because of their negative east-west coordinate number, these planets were perpetually viewed as second-class. The region to the "east" was the Northern Dependencies.
