In an attempt to capture CIS General Kraal, the Republic launched a daring assault on the world of Nuront IV. The ground mission was led by 144th Legion Captain Niso. The Republic fleet fought the CIS fleet in orbit, while the 144th troops landed on the surface. There, Niso's forces met heavy resistance, but managed to hold out for about five hours before being overwhelmed by enemies.. Niso's forces took extensive casualties, to the point where he was left alone with his own 144th squad. When they became surrounded, Republic Admiral Yularen's battlegroup reverted, and Generals Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker were able to save Niso and his survivors at the last second.
