A Meteor Cannon is a ship-mounted weapon that fires high-explosive rounds. The weapon is a large cannon with internal compressors that cause air and energy to funnel into a tight ring. The ring builds energy behind a massive round made specifically for the cannon. When it reaches a certain point, the energy is held until the necessary time to fire. When fired, the energy ring explodes and at the same time, a large hammer behind the round punches forward. The round accelerates down the barrel and passes through three other rings called Mass Gates. These Mass Gates cause the round to lose its weight, allowing it to fly at high speeds.
