DD-342 was a Hope-class destroyer in service with the UNSC Navy during the Human-Covenant War. DD-342 was commissioned in November 2543, and was immediately deployed, along with DD-341, DD-343 and DD-344, to the colony of Miridem, to reinforce the UNSC fleet stationed there. Here DD-342 was destroyed the following February at the Battle of Miridem. A drone-controlled vessel, DD-342 was deliberately steered into the path of oncoming plasma torpedoes, saving the Vengeance-class destroyer UNSC Sheffield from destruction in the process.
