Dr. Adelina Arif was a Manticoran citizen and a renowned xeno-linguist. She helped in the developement of the first method of communicating with the Medusans. Honor Harrington later retained her to develop a modified variant of ancient human sign languages for the treecats, a task in which Arif succeeded as well. (HH9) She later headed the Crown Commission on Treecats, along with Dr. Allison Chou Harrington and other scientists as well as several treecat clan memory singers and elders, working to further integrate treecats into human society.
