Yoshiko Akiyama first appears in Episode 5, when Yukari Akiyama (unbeknownst to anyone else) skips school to infiltrate Saunders Girls High School. The rest of Anglerfish Team, checking her house, discovers that she lives in a barber shop. Yoshiko is thereafter seen observing every Ooarai tournament match, along with Jungorou Akiyama. In the spin-off manga Motto Love Love Sakusen Desu! it is shown that, possibly due to Yukari's connection to the Sensha-dō club, other members of the Sensha-dō team come to the Akiyama Barber shop to get their own hair cut.
