James Norman was the son of Jesse Norman and the older brother of John Norman; he lived in Delain. He and his brother worked as scouts for a long-haul caravan that was ambushed by slow mutants in Eluria on its way to Tejuas. James was killed in the ambush, but his body was left untouched by the Little Sisters because of the gold medallion he wore. His body was later found by Roland Deschain, who took the medallion in order to return it to Norman's people should he ever encounter them.
