Wakato is the vice-captain of Josei Shonan. Known as the team's smug "idol" complete with screaming fangirls in tow (much to the consternation of his teammates), Wakato gets Jousei's singles off to a strong start with his flashy "Style of the Pretender" -- the ability to copy almost perfectly top-ranked pros. He enjoys taunting other players, but can lose his cool if the match starts to go south. Behind his laid-back playboy exterior is a perfectionist who spends hours practicing in secret to master his form.
