With Solia's new system coming, she was going to die, and decided to give up 15 special orbs of Luna to the select few who bid the most to remember her by. When a large commotion broke out, twilight broke those 15 orbs into 50 shards to allow a bigger opportunity for more to remember her. She was the first non-playable character, but sadly, no longer exists on the newer server and updated site (as explained during the Twilight Charity Auction) leaving her to only exist through the 50 Twilights Keepsake that roam around Solia.
