The RG852LW features a basswood body with a limba wood top and matching headstock, a fixed bridge and dual EMG active humbucking pickups. A similar version minus the limba wood top, the RG852, was released concurrently. A model with a poplar burl top and DiMarzio pickups, the RG852MPB, was added the following year.
