The 2003 Pontiac Excitement 400 was a Winston Cup (now Sprint Cup) event held at Richmond International Raceway on May 3, 2003. Joe Nemechek posted his only victory of the year, leading the most laps and holding off Bobby Labonte after rain ended the race seven laps early. Jerry Nadeau, a competitor in the series since 1997, crashed hard in practice, was critically injured and never raced again in NASCAR competition. Jason Keller, his replacement, finished 32nd.
