The transformational/mutagenic vapor through which Inhumans come into their gift, the Terrigen Mists have a tragic effect on ordinary humans (when contaminated by traces of the Diviner metal), turning them into statues which then crumble into nothingness. This was the sad fate of Antoine Triplett, who was present during the "rebirth" of Skye and Raina, though this may be because he was hit with shrapnel from the obelisk. However, it is known that Terrigen Mists originating from the artificially grown Terrigen crystals that are contaminated with traces of the Diviner metal have this detrimental/lethal effect on humans.
