"Old Man" Newsome was a holographic character from the Ancient West holodeck program. He was the operator of Deadwood's telegraph machine. In 2369 Worf was forced to cannibalize this machine in order to link it with his combadge and create a force field when the holodeck safety protocols went offline and he was faced with the prospect of a shootout. (TNG: "A Fistful of Datas" ) This character was only mentioned in dialogue.
