In an attempt to retrieve the Special Zone, Vector the Crocodile used the Universal Chronotron Archive. To pay for these expensive calls, Vector somehow mortgaged the Floating Island to Hundred & Spindle. However, Vector had no money to pay for the mortgage, prompting Mr Spindle and colleague Number 47 to repossess the island. Knuckles the Echidna was understandably angry with this decision but was eaten by 47. The Chaotix Crew were also eaten in an attempt to threaten Spindle. In the end, Sonic the Hedgehog was able to trick Number 47 into releasing Hundred & Spindle's contents into the Special Zone void (through a Portal Ring).
