The Shimmering Spark of Amaterasu was a nemuranai attuned to the elements of fire and air, an item left for mortals by the late Sun Goddess. In 1160 it was owned by a Yoritomo Shugenja who was killed by gaijin pirates, who intended to transport it back to their home­land. Moshi Maiyomi, sensei at Amaterasu Seido, heard of its existence and sent a group of samurai to recover it.
