The Algira sector was a region of space near the Federation-Cardassian border. It was the last known location of the missing runabout USS Mekong used by Elim Garak and Odo in their search for Enabran Tain in 2371. The starship USS Portland and a Cardassian cruiser were later assigned to search the Algira sector for Odo and Elim Garak's missing runabout, not knowing that it had actually been picked up by a Romulan warbird near the Unefra system.
