Rory was Lachlan White's case worker from the Youth Offending team. Rory and his colleague Heather visited Lachlan and his family after the family's living circumstances changed when Lachlan's grandfather's fiancée Bernice moved in with her young daughter Gabby Thomas. Gabby initially put her foot in it at the start of the meeting when she questioned whether she would still get a pony if the meeting went badly. Bernice also put her foot in it but the meeting was rescued when Zak Dingle burst in and thanked Lachlan for walking his teenage daughter Belle home after she got drunk.
