Hongoeka Bay is the locality at the northern end of the Plimmerton coastline. The bay's coastal area north used to be the quarry, where thousands of truckloads of hard rock were mined for use in roading and other projects around Porirua City and beyond. Access was through residential streets, which had a little to do with the closure of the quarry early this century.
