Detective Inspector is usually second in charge of CID but sometimes CID might be run by a Detective Superintendent and second in command is the Detective Chief Inspector. Detective Superintendents are not usually found in borough CIDs but rather found in specialist squads such as MIT. Detective Chief Inspectors are DIs supervisors.
