Izzy is raised by Charlie and Renée Swan in Forks, Washington until she is eleven. At that point Charlie accepts a job offer from Stark Industries and the entire family relocates to Mars. She is home schooled by her mother, as Mars does not have enough children to justify a school. She hunts down Tony Stark upon realizing he is the only other child her age in the settlement, and they soon become friends. Bella often helps Tony with his science projects, since although she is not as talented with robotics she has a much better short term memory than he does and can be called upon to remember where he put things down.
