Slow match is a slowly burning cord. It could be used in a linstock to ignite the charge in a cannon, or in longer lengths to give a time delay when setting off a large quantity of gunpowder when blowing up a fort or a bridge. It would burn at 1ft per hour, compared with quick match that burns at many feet per second.
