The Guthixian mage is a potent magic user that can easily kill low-level players. It is one of the three strong forces that protected Guthix during the God Wars (the other two being Guthixian rangers and Guthixian warriors). Protect from Magic or Deflect Magic is highly recommended as mages can constantly hit 200+ damage on players. Unlike other spiritual mages, these monsters are not located in the God Wars Dungeon, instead they are located in the Guthix's altar. Bringing prayer potions is unnecessary, since a players prayer is regenerated automatically every 3 seconds while in the Guthix altar. This is extremely helpful for players requiring longer trips.
