The Great Pretenders is the second studio album, and sixth release overall, by the post-punk band Hop-Scotch. Produced by dance music producers Mark Liggett and Chris Barbosa of Shannon ("Let the Music Play") fame, this album was a success worldwide. The initial 1981 Great Pretenders came in versions sung in English and Oceana, as well as a limited "Edición Española" release, featuring only Spanish lyrics. The final mixing and mastering was done at Sterling Sound in New York City with DJ François Kevorkian and George Marino.
