Gantel Dro was a male Defel thief who was captured by Marus Grayson, an Imperial bureaucrat, when the criminal tried to steal the Jewel of Yavin from him. Instead of killing Dro, Grayson offered Dro the chance to live if he agreed to oversee the Jewel's security. Dro accepted the offer and accompanied Grayson to Cloud City on the planet Bespin, where the Imperial planned to auction off the gem.
