Fred-A048 was a member of the Special Proficiency, Assault, Reconnaissance, Tactical Augmented Nonconventional-force, Fourth Generation (SPARTAN-IV) Program, part of Albion Company, commanded by SPARTAN-II Class I survivor Laszlo-108. He was also second-in command and close quarters combat expert of Fireteam Bravo. In 2600, he was abducted from his orbital home and replaced with a flash-clone along with the other 487 children that made up "Group 1" of the SPARTAN-IV Program's recruitment pool and taken to Arcturus for his training to become a SPARTAN-IV.
