Leo Carpenter was the boyfriend of Caroline Farrell in her life before the Dollhouse. He loved Farrell enough to help her break into the labs at Freemont College, where the Rossum Corporation was performing experiments on humans and animals. Their plan was originally just to film the animals in captivity to be broadcast over the web, in an effort to publicly shame Rossum into changing its practices. Things quickly went south, however, when Carpenter and Farrell realized just how extensive Rossum's experiments were going, and they were chased from the building. During their attempts to escape, Leo was shot, and bled to death.
