While the term was never formally referenced, the Wyclef Jean song "We Trying to Stay Alive", heard during a party on the USS Discovery in "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad" , was identified as hip hop music in subtitles. Other songs which might be considered hip hop today were heard in various productions, including the Public Enemy song "Fight the Power", and the Beastie Boys songs Body Movin' and Sabotage. However, the latter song was described as classical music in-universe.
