Sid Bell was an old friend of Len Fairclough and Harry Hewitt. Known by his nickname of "Ding-dong", the two men decide to make an impromptu visit to him when Harry was over from Ireland for the wedding of Elsie and Steve Tanner in September 1967. On the way there Len's van broke down and Harry propped it up with an unsafe jack to get underneath it. The jack gave way and the van crushed Harry's chest. He died later in hospital.
