Generic Food is the result of a complete and utter lack of description of food during a scene when some description would be appropriate, e.g. during a party when everything else is described in great detail but what the characters are eating is described only as "food." It tastes extremely boring, but many agents prefer it to the HQ Cafeteria's food, because at least it's not actively out to get you. Causing it to be served at Redwall Abbey constitutes a charge. The same is true, to a lesser extent, of any feast at Hogwarts and any meal attended by James Bond.
