Lord Matthäus Routhier, Earl of Summercross, was a Manticoran peer of the realm and politician. A xenophobe and a staunch isolationist, he served as leader of the Conservative Association in 1867 PD. His paranoia made him somewhat willing to support a powerful Navy to protect the Star Kingdom. In the 1860s PD, he took illegal money from the Treadwell Yard in exchange for his and his party's support on certain appropriations bills. When the government discovered this, King Roger III used the information to force Lord Summercross to support the annexation of the Basilisk System. (Companion)
