Chua studied at Mayflower Secondary School and graduated from National University of Singapore Faculty of Arts and Social Science with a Bachelor in Arts. An active netball player in school, she had represented Singapore in netball. She took up a banking job but was discovered at a social etiquette class, thus starting her four-year career as a model.
