Arestes is current and temporary leader of the thieves guild of Silmaria. If Hero doesn't rob the bank, Arestes will rob it instead. It is possible for the Hero to find evidence that tracks him to Arestes, and then convines the old sailor to turn himself in. Doing a good dead, the Hero can have Julanar heal his bad arm, which leads to Arestes promising to change his life and go into something more honest.
