Doug Wildey (May 2, 1922 - October 5, 1994) was a comic book artist and cartoonist most famous for his co-creation of the acclaimed animated television series, Jonny Quest for Hanna-Barbera Productions (1964). Wildey worked on comic book series including Jonah Hex, Sgt. Rock and Tarzan (taking over the latter book from Russ Manning), and created his own western comic book character, Rio. He got his start in television animation working with Alex Toth at Cambria Studios on their 1962 series Space Angel. In addition to Jonny Quest, he also co-created the Herculoids and Jana of the Jungle television properties. He created a comic strip, Ambler, that lasted about a year or 18 months in the late '60s. Wildey was later the director and associate producer of the cartoon series Return to the Plane
