Techno-organics is the study and application of organic systems for technological purposes. Dr. Dovan was an expert in techno-organics, and used its expertise in creating the Starfly One Bioprobe. (NF short story: "Oil and Water"). It appears that the term "techno-organics" was coined for the No Limits story, though this field would seem closely related to what in other stories is called "biomechanics". The bio-neural circuitry introduced in Star Trek: Voyager would also seem to be an application of techno-organics.
