Dr. Zharko's greatest achievement was the discovery of a means of bringing the dead back to life which he verified by being arrested and executed by the Transylvanian Highway Patrol. He had planned to next place the living in a state of suspended animation for a period of five years using CONTROL agents Maxwell Smart and 99 as his guinea pigs. However, Max and 99 escape his clutches and Max destroys Zharko and his lab with a well-thrown vial of nitroglycerine, lamenting "If only he had used his genius for niceness instead of evil".
