The Cooley Tractor Challenge was held in Ireland in 2007 to break the World Record for the most vintage Tractors working at one time. Several versions of the record have been set around the world over the past few years. But the Irish set out to smash the record after several rather vague definitions had been used by others to break there earlier record. The use of modern tractors was not considered in the spirit of the original record attempts. The principle organiser of the event was the late John Hanlon from near Dundalk, in the Irish Republic.
