The 2003 Checker Auto Parts 500 Presented by Havoline was a Winston Cup (now Sprint Cup) event held at Phoenix International Raceway on November 2, 2003. Dale Earnhardt, Jr won his second and final race of the year, holding off Jimmie Johnson by three-quarters of a second. Matt Kenseth finished 6th and had a good chance of clinching the championship in the following event.
