After a reasonably good run of form, albeit a brief one, Rovers were brought back down to Earth with an emphatic 3–1 defeat at AFC Wimbledon. The Pirates, who were missing eleven members of the senior squad through injury, started the game with defender Adam Virgo playing as a makeshift striker and forward David Clarkson in midfield. Things went from bad to worse when Garry Kenneth put the ball into his own net on the 20-minute mark, then Rashid Yussuff and Will Antwi made it 3–0 with little more than half an hour gone.
