Starbase 549 was a Federation starbase located in the Gamma Quadrant in 2380. It was built in orbit of Jestra V, the first place in the Gamma Quadrant where Federation citizens took residence. It was commanded by Commodore Gorak. In 2382, the starbase took home to more than a thousand new occupants when half of the planet of Jestra V became castrated by the Kei organisms.
