The Republic of Canada came to be on July 8 2038, when the federal government broke all ties with the (now redundant) British Monarchy. The government had to deal with an invasion from the U.S, but struck a deal to end the war. The treaty stated that Canada would relinquish control of the maritimes, and have split control of Newfoundland and south BC. In 2039, Canada began to work on space launches, and expressed interest in colonising outer space. Also starting in 2039 was Canada's improving economy. With a new president who mainly focused on the economy, it was set to rise by at least 7% each year.
