The Eater is an enemy from Final Fantasy III, fought in the Ancient Ruins and as a treasure chest enemy in the Sunken Cave. It splits into two when attacked by a weapon other than a Dark Blade. If the player does not have a Dark Blade, a Dragoon will work just as well. Its special attack is to drain the life of its enemy. Approach with caution, for it appears in the Ancient Ruins, and if you have not trained well enough, they can be a real problem. They usually attack in numbers of three. Make sure you always have a White Mage in your party.
