Ontario is a state within the USA whose territory extend along the northern shores of the Great Lakes. It was formerly a British colony under the name of Upper Canada. Following the Canadian Revolution, it merged with Lower Canada to form the Republic of the United Canadas. Problems soon arose between the French and English population over policies and the shape of various institutions. After only a few years, the union was dissolved and Upper Canada requested annexation into the USA as a state.
