The Spaceship Surprise Captain, who bears considerable resemblance to Guy Smiley (both physically and vocally) but with brown hair and eyebrows, appears in Spaceship Surprise segments on Sesame Street. He loves surprises more than anything, and will travel from planet to planet just to get more and more of them. When he goes, he drags his whole crew along with him, including his not so adventurous mate. Whenever he reminds his crew that they are looking for surprises, confetti goes flying. Despite being enthusiastic, however, the captain is also rather cowardly. He has a tendency to duck low whenever the natives of the surprise planets approach. He is often addressed as "brave captain" by the mate, who can secretly tell that he is anything but.
