Rotor heads through the Forbidden Zone on his way back to Knothole when he sees two "meteorites" falling from the sky. He observes that they would have struck Robotropolis if not for the city's energy dome and decides to check the crash site. As he stumbles through the smoke he bumps into Mina Mongoose, who is looking for Sonic. Suddenly, the ground beneath them begins to shake as Sonic spins his way to the surface. Sonic starts to welcome Rotor back home when Mina angrily interjects, upset that he's acting so casually when she thought he died. He explains to her that he burrowed underground before the impact, keeping himself out of harm's way.
