Linden was a member of the Varden and Martland Redbeard's company while he was a captain. Martland Redbeard ordered the company spellcaster, Carn, to heal Linden and Welmar after the a conflict with the Laughing Dead. They had attacked and destroyed an Imperial Army supply convoy alongside Roran.
